Lamar instrumental seniors and senior parents:
The
Lamar Instrumental Booster Club (LIBC) oversees the awarding of several scholarships each year to graduating seniors. Below you will find a brief description of each scholarship offered and the criteria
used to select the recipient.
The
LIBC along with the directors select a panel of non-senior parent volunteers for the scholarship recommendation committee. The parent volunteers will blind-judge the applications, using a weighted scoring
matrix which will be posted on the LIBC website. The committee will then submit their recommendations to the directors for
final selections.
All
information contained in the applications will be held in strict confidentiality. All
identifying information will be edited from the application prior to the recommendation committee receiving the applications. This editing will be performed by a person selected by the directors or LIBC board
and will be required to keep all information edited from the applications confidential.
Students
may apply for as many scholarships as desired but will be awarded only one. Final
approval for each scholarship is contingent upon the completion of high school requirements prior to September of the current
year and acceptance to an accredited college or university as a full-time student beginning with the fall semester.
Scholarship
funds will only be given after the treasurer of the LIBC receives proof of enrollment in the student’s selected school
for the fall semester. If the student does not meet these requirements, all rights
to the scholarship will be relinquished and the funds will remain in the scholarship fund. Any scholarship
not claimed by March of the year following graduation will be forfeited.
